Tabby graphene is luminescent, and the colour depends on the C/F ratio. Indeed, it contains confined islands of p-electron system, i.e. quantum dots.
The luminescence spectra of the Tabby graphene cover the range of 450 -750 nm and can be decomposed into three Gaussian components. If the fluorine content is lowered, the quantum dot sizes are increased and the intensity of the individual components is redistributed to longer wavelengths.
